Indianola, Neb., May 29. — At least eight persons were killed in a head on collision between Burlington passenger trains numbers nine and twelve two miles west of here this morning. The engineers on both trains were killed.
It is impossible to tell how many of the passengers have been killed. Many havev been badly injured, some of them fatally.
Train No. 12, east bound local, was ordered to switch at Red Willow west of here. The orders were ignored and just as No. 12 began to slow down to switch for the west bound flyer the collision occurred.
The Omaha and Denver baseball clubs were both on the west bound train.
Several players were injured.
